In need of a new upcoming potential alt-pop superstar? You are in luck. Much industry buzz has followed Ella On The Run after the release of her War of Words EP earlier this year, including interest from Line of Best Fit and BBC Introducing. In an attempt to snowball her initial promising hype, the London based artist has released a new single, the super-catchy ‘Calvary’ with an inventive stop-motion video.

Moving away from the spartan Lorde-inspired drum/clap loops and emotionally disconnected vocals present on her debut, ‘Calvary’ encompasses an infectious whooshing chorus in the vein of fellow UK alt-popper Foxes. As Ella, accompanied by phantom versions of herself on harmony, sings the chorus’ “I try to follow/your trail” her vocals recall LaRoux at her most ashamedly pop.

As the end coda fades out one can almost hear the sound of Banks and Little Boots shaking in their shimmering little boots. Soon they will be the ones on the run. A new queen of alt-pop has revealed herself.
