Damon Albarn collaborator Jamie Hewlett has confirmed that Blur are working on a new material.

Hewlett, co-creator of Gorillaz, has also confirmed that a new Gorillaz album is in the pipelines but won’t be released until Damon has finished working with Blur on their latest album.

In May, Albarn mentioned onstage in Hong Kong that the band were heading back into the studio, with fellow Blur band member Alex James later revealing that the sessions went very well. This will be Blur’s eighth studio album and will be a follow up to Think Tank, released in 2003.

Blur have only one planned UK show, which is at Dublin’s Irish Museum of Modern Art on 1st August, but you can catch them at a few european festivals including Rock Werchter in Belgium, and Sziget in Hungary.
