What’s a real shame about this single is the time of its release, because it would have made a fantastic addition to any summer playlist! Of Kings And Captains’ music seems to flourish with summertime, their songs are aptly suited to warm days with parties and trips to the pub. But, release date aside, the pop-rock band from Dudley have released a first-rate song with a music video featuring footage from their recent tour with Bon Jovi.
From the first time you hear the guitar until it scratches out at the song’s conclusion, you will have the urge to jump along to the beat, or at least bob your head in time. The guitar licks seem to sing alongside the vocals, leading the instrumental sections, and forming such an important part of the song. Luke Wassell’s vocals, though unlikely to blow the listener away with an impressive range or technical prowess, keep the listener interested with simple sing-along melodies and scintillating lyrics that tribute the artists that have influenced their genre.
Having just finished their tour with Bon Jovi, Of Kings And Captains will hopefully go on to release more great music, and charm us all again on their next tour.
‘Maybe Just Okay’ will be released digitally on 23rd September, available from various online music retailers.
